Napans Say "No More" to Domestic Violence

Download a "NO MORE/NO MAS" sign here, then join your neighbors and Napa Emergency Women's Services for the candlelight vigil Thursday evening in downtown Napa to help raise awareness and promote prevention of family violence.

A candlelight vigil and walk Thursday evening aims to raise local awareness and promote the prevention of domestic violence in Napa County.

The Family Violence Prevention Vigil is an annual ritual for Napa Emergency Women's Services, which helps families in crisis.

The vigil takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park, 3rd St & Main St, Napa and will be followed by coffee from Molinari Caffé and cookies from Sweetie Pies, organizers say.

In preparation for the vigil, NEWS has been photographing people all over Napa who say "NO MORE" to family violence: See some of their photos here and more at http://www.napanews.org/news/no-more

If you would like to participate in the NO MORE photo gallery, download the NO MORE or NO MAS sign, take your picture and email it to karenc@napanews.org. (You're also welcome to add it to this gallery on Napa Valley Patch.)

Then bring your sign to the vigil Thursday and stand with your neighbors against family violence in Napa County.

According to NEWS, the vigil is the culmination of the month long observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, "which is celebrated around the country by advocates, victim service providers, law enforcement, the judiciary, prosecutors and survivors in an effort to raise public awareness about domestic violence."

Activities during the vigil include:

  • Information displays about services provided by NEWS;
  • Information about the Kids Exposed to Domestic Violence (KEDS) program with activities for children;
  • Fingernail painting with “Purple With A Purpose” sponsored by O·P·I Nail Lacquer;
  • The Phat Salads & Wraps food truck selling food with a donation going to NEWS.

Why do the Hispanics need their own Chamber Of Commerce? Asians, African-Americans, Caucasians,Read More Indians, and all other races use the same Chamber Of Commerce in unity. The Hispanics are welcome to use it as well. Unless they're promoting their own race above others in the business community. Naw, they wouldn't do anything racist like that, would they?
