Dozens of cancer survivors, friends, family and supporters marched Saturday around the Napa Valley College track to raise money and awareness for cancer research as part of the 2013 Napa Relay for Life.

Jennie Lovie, the Relay For Life event chairwoman, said that this year's event at Napa Valley College had a good turnout.

She said there were 56 teams participating with about 400 walkers including survivors, supporters and family and friends.

She also added there were several youth groups and Napa Boy Scout Troop 83 involved.

Lovie said she expected the turnout to increase for Saturday evening "Luminaria" event where the track will be lined with glowing bags and an tribute spelling "Hope" using lite bags on the football field.

The event continues through 9 a.m. Sunday.
