Napa Newspaper Pans Fundraising Flyer for 9/11 Memorial

A flyer sporting the headline "Napa's 30-Ton-Erection" that aims to raise money for Napa's 9/11 Memorial was panned as being in poor taste by the local daily newspaper.

The Napa Valley Register, in an opinion piece Thursday, called the flyer "tasteless, tone-deaf and contrary to the spirit of the memorial."

The group running the fundraising and in charge of the flyer, Napa4ward, told the Register the headline was to draw attention the project in hopes of aiding fundraising.

According to the Register, the members of Napa4ward are businessmen Ryan Gregory and Kevin Teague, City Councilman Alfredo Pedroza and artist Gordon Huether.

At least 18 residents who commented online on the Register's opinion piece had divergent views as to whether the flyer's headline was appropriate.

What do you think? Was the flyer in bad taste?
