Law Enforcement Officials Ride Caltrain for Free Thursday

The reminder comes in light of a memorial Thursday in San Jose for the two fallen Santa Cruz police officers.

In light of a Thursday memorial service for Santa Cruz’s fallen police officers, Caltrain is issuing a reminder that its service is free to sworn law enforcement representatives.

The memorial service for the officers will be held Thursday, March 7 at noon at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.

The pavilion is located across the street from Caltrain’s San Jose Diridon Station.

Caltrain will not be expanding its afternoon service Thursday, said spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann, since there are usually not many riders during this time, and trains are not expected to fill to capacity.

However, if the trains become crowded, Caltrain will add additional service, said Ackemann.

More than 20,000 attendees are expected to converge on the HP Pavilion to pay tribute to the Santa Cruz police officers who were killed in the line of duty last week.

“Our deepest sympathies are with the friends, family and extended law enforcement community as they come to terms with this senseless loss,” said Mark Simon, Caltrain’s executive officer for Public Affairs.
