Calistoga Woman, Breast Cancer Survivor, Leading New Event for Survivors, Kids

Roxanna Burgos' husband organizing event to match 100 survivors with 100 needy kids.

A Calistoga man is organizing a new event in August to honor his wife, a breast cancer survivor, and to match 100 survivors with 100 needy Napa Valley kids.

Roxanna Burgos was named the first "Breast Cancer Survivor of the Year" as part of the event, called "Backpack for Kids Day" at 12 noon on Aug. 3 at Pioneer Park, 1308 Cedar St., Calistoga.

The event, designed to benefit the needy children of grape-pickers of Napa Vallley, will pair 100 breast cancer survivors with 100 needy children needing backpacks "filled with your inspirational testimony and school supplies for the coming 2013 year," said organizer Tom Burgos.
