Napa Has Open Spots on Board, Committee, and Commissions


 The Napa City Clerk is now accepting applications for two seats on the Bicycle & Trails Advisory Commission, one seat on the Building & Fire Code Board of Appeals, two seats on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Citizens’ Committee, two seats on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission, two seats on the Senior Advisory Commission, and two seats on the Tree Advisory Commission.
The deadline to apply is 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013. Interviews and appointments by the City Council are scheduled for Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
The Bicycle & Trails Advisory Commission makes written recommendations to the Public Works Director and City Council regarding transportation, bicycle, and recreational issues. Each member should demonstrate dedication as a bicyclist and/or training in the field of transportation, recreational trail planning or engineering.
The Committee consists of five members. All members shall be full-time residents and registered voters of the City of Napa.
The Commission meets on the second Thursday of even-numbered months at 4:00 p.m. in the Committee Room at City Hall, 955 School Street, Napa, California.
The Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals is the local appeals board for the City of Napa regarding issues related to building and fire codes. Each member shall demonstrate knowledge, experience, and training in matters related to building construction and fire protections.
The Committee consists of five members. The Building Board of Appeals shall be the “local appeals board” and the “housing appeals board” (as those phrases are defined and used in the California Building Standards Code). All members shall be full-time residents and registered voters of the City of Napa.
The Board meets on an as-needed basis.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Citizens’ Committee provides the assessment, planning, development, implementation, and amendment of programs under the CDBG program of the Housing and Community Development Act.

The Committee consists of seven members. All members shall be full-time residents and registered voters of the City of Napa.
The Committee meets on the last Monday of the month, on an as-needed basis, with supplemental meetings during the Community Development Block Grant application process during the spring of each year.
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission makes written recommendations to the City Council affecting the acquisition, development, and maintenance of parks; regarding matters of public recreation and cultural activities of public interest within the City; and affecting the development of privately and publicly landscaped areas within the City.
The Committee consists of seven members. All members shall be full-time residents and registered voters of the City of Napa. Additionally, there shall be one nonvoting member who is a high school student in the city. The nonvoting member shall not be counted toward any quorum of the Commission.
The Commission meets on the second Wednesday of every other month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 955 School Street, Napa, California.
The Senior Advisory Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on matters regarding services, facility use, and recreational activities at the Napa Senior Center and establishes short and long term program goals.
The Commission consists of seven members. Five members must be representatives from the senior community and the remaining two members must be representatives from area senior service agencies providing services within the City. All members shall be full-time residents and registered voters of the City of Napa.
One of these appointments shall fill the requirement of “Senior Agency Representative”.
The Commission meets on the first Wednesday of every other month. Meetings begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 1500 Jefferson Street, Napa, California.
The Tree Advisory Commission advises the City Council on all issues involving trees, including City street trees and “Significant Trees” in the community. The Commission may also serve as an appeals board. Each member should demonstrate training or experience in the fields of arboriculture, or horticulture and urban planning.
The Commission consists of five members. Three members shall be residents and registered voters of the City of Napa. Two members may be residents residing within Napa County. Preference on any appointment shall be given to a resident of the City of Napa over a non-city resident.
One of these appointments shall fill the requirement of “City Resident”.

The Commission approves a schedule to meet for five regular Wednesday meetings a year. Meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Committee Room at City Hall, 955 School Street, Napa, California.
