3 events to help Napa County navigate Obamacare

Many Napa County residents are mystified by the changes that will happen across the nation and locally in the next six to 12 months as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is implemented.

These changes include almost 6,000 local residents becoming eligible for Medi-Cal, another 10,000 becoming eligible to purchase subsidized coverage through the new state “insurance exchange,” and a new “universal mandate” requiring all county residents to purchase health insurance that meets certain basic standards.

In an effort to help Napa County residents figure out what’s happening, a collaborative of local organizations will be presenting HealthCare Napa, a series of outreach and education events to be held at various locations across the County over the coming months. T

The organizations include  Napa County Health and Human Services Agency, Napa Valley Coalition of Nonprofit Agencies, Queen of the Valley Medical Center Community Outreach, Community Health Clinic Ole, Children’s Health Initiative of Napa County, Partnership HealthPlan of California, Family Service of Napa Valley, Aldea, Inc., Napa Valley Hospice and Adult Day Services, St. Helena Hospital and the City of Calistoga.
