ACEC California Seeks Entries for 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards


SACRAMENTO, August 12, 2013 – The American Council of Engineering Companies of California (ACEC California) has opened for entry its 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards Competition, honoring the highest quality and most innovative infrastructure projects undertaken by California-based engineering and land surveying firms.

The entry period runs until the end of September, with all final project submissions due in the ACEC California office by close of business on Monday, September 30, 2013.  Awards will be presented at a special reception in Sacramento next February.  Entry applications can be found at: http://www.acec-ca.org/doc.asp?id=916&parentid=12

The annual competition is open to all California private sector engineering and land surveying firms whose projects were substantially completed and ready for use between November 1, 2011 and October 31, 2013. Firms do not need to be a member of ACEC California to enter the competition.

EEA entries are accepted into one of 12 project categories:

·      studies, research, and consulting engineering services;

·      building/technology systems;

·      structural systems;

·      surveying and mapping technology;

·      environmental;

·      waste and storm water;

·      water resources;

·      transportation;

·      special projects;

·      small projects;

·      energy;

·      industrial and manufacturing processes and facilities


Judging is conducted by a panel of experts from the public sector. The highest-ranking projects will receive a Merit or Honor Award and one project will be selected to receive ACEC California’s highest award, the Golden State Award. Projects receiving Honor Awards and the Golden State Award are eligible to compete in ACEC’s national engineering excellence competition in May 2014 where they go on to compete for national recognition, culminating in the Grand Conceptor Award, ACEC’s highest accolade.
