2013 FIREWISE CHIPPING PROGRAM CONCLUDES OCTOBER 1

Napa Firewise and CAL FIRE/Napa County Fire Department announced that their free vegetation chipping program for county residents will stop accepting new applications for the 2013 chipping season on October 1. Existing applications will be honored and completed by the end of October or early November. Application and program information is available online at www.napafirewise.org or by calling Amy Head, CAL FIRE/Napa County Fire Department Chipping Program Coordinator, at 707-967-1426.

Head reminds Napa County residents that even though applications will stop being accepted on October 1, preparation for the next chipping season should continue. “Fall and winter months are the perfect time to prune and prepare chipping piles for processing in the spring; there is less danger of equipment-caused wildfire then, and outdoor working conditions are often more favorable,” says Head.
