The Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa Hosts Second Annual "First Blush" Tasting

The Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa has invited select California wineries to participate in its second annual First Blush event, including a special celebration that will allow guests to “Taste the Lighter Side of Summer.” The tasting event will highlight California’s lighter wines including rosé, Sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, Rieslings and sparkling wines, plus a few beers from Napa Smith Brewery, as the Napa Valley enters its summer season this Mother’s Day Weekend, May 10-11, 2014. The tasting of more than 40 lighter California wines and local craft brews will be held on Saturday, May 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and a Mother’s Day Brunch will be held on Sunday, May 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Taste the Lighter Side of Summer event will take place outside and in the shade on the Vineyard Terrace which overlooks the resort’s Estate Cave, pool with private cabanas, nine acres of hillside vineyards, and Napa’s iconic Grape Crusher Statue. As guests sample more than 40 lighter wines from throughout California and craft brews from Napa Smith Brewery, they will also taste a variety of culinary creations from the chefs of The Meritage Resort. Each guest will receive and get to keep a commemorative First Blush wine class.

Mothers will continue to be celebrated on Sunday with Siena’s full Mother’s Day Brunch. From an artisanal local farm fresh cheese selection to antipasti display, smoked salmon and seafood display, in addition to full entrees including everything from Crab Cake Benedict ‘Oscar’ to Butter Seared Fillet Mignon and Brioche Crème Brûlée French Toast, every mom will know they are special. Especially when paired with a California rosé or glass of pink bubbly.
