Breathing and Hydration - What do They Have in Common

This month I spoke with Tiffany Larson with Northbay Adventure Boot Camp about the importance on breathing as you exercise and keeping yourself well hydrated.   What do they have in common, they are both important elements to a good exercise regiment.

During exercise, your muscles demand greater that usual amount of oxygen to work efficiently and as a result, expel more carbon dioxide waste.   Improper breathing can hamper your efficiency but  more seriously, can have a negative impact on your health.

Water is important to the body at all times.  It keeps the body from overheating.  When you exercise, your muscles generate heat.   To keep from burning up, your body needs to get rid of the heat, therefore your sweat.  As sweat evaporates, it cools the tissues beneath.   Lots of sweating reduces the body's water level and this loss of fluid affects normal body functions.
