Felony DUI Alleged in 2-Pickup Napa Crash That Injured 2

A Napa man was arrested at the hospital Sunday night after allegedly slamming his pickup truck into a Fairfield man's pickup that was pulled over on the shoulder of southbound Highway 29, according to CHP.

A Napa man suffered major injuries and was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI after he plowed his pickup into the back of a parked vehicle on Highway 29 Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Around 11 p.m., Herman Galeas, 44, of Fairfield was sitting in his 1998 Ford pickup with hazard lights flashing on the right southbound shoulder of Highway 29, just north of Highway 121, CHP Officer Garrett Ray said.

“He was using his cell phone when he looked in his rear-view mirror and saw another pickup also on the shoulder, speeding up behind him,” Ray said.

The pickup, driven by Julio Cruz, 32, of Napa, slammed into rear end of Galeas’ vehicle at high speed.

Cruz suffered a possible broken jaw, Ray said. He was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center where he was treated and arrested for DUI.
