Napa Bicyclist Busted for Alleged Drug Charges

In another case, officers found driver wanted on an outstanding warrant, and his passenger allegedly found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe, police said.

A bicyclist trying to evade the long arm of the law was foiled when he attempted to make a break from police on Friday night in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Main Street, according to a Napa Police press release.

When it was over, Ronald Stapes, 50, of Napa found himself spending the night in the Napa County jail.

The ruckus started around 8:30 p.m., when Napa police officers tried to stop Stapes for a bicycle code violation, police said.

The bike rider refused to stop and rode his bike through the 7-Eleven parking lot at the corner of Main and Lincoln, near Yajome Street.

The rider dropped his bike close by and ran into a nearby backyard with officers in hot pursuit.

Stapes was tackled by officers after a short foot pursuit, where he put up a struggle, but in the end, Stapes was taken into custody, the press release stated.

Staples was found to be on probation and non-revocable parole, police said, adding, he was also found to be in possession of illegal drugs and a medical prescription not in his name.

He was booked into Napa County Department of Corrections.

 

Drug bust in east Napa

Anthony Sanflippo, 46, of Napa was taken into custody when Napa Police stopped his vehicle on Friday evening on vehicle cold violations in the area of Ash and Sherwood, according to a Napa Police press release.

Officers found Sanflippo to be wanted on an outstanding warrant, and his passenger Mitchell Manley, 47, of Napa, was allegedly found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe and a small amount of usable meth in the pipe, police said.

Officers also found about 2 ounces of marijuana and burglary tools, the press realseas said.

Sanflippo and Manley were arrested and booked into Napa County Department of Corrections.
