UPDATE: Napa Valley Marathon Kicks Off at 7 a.m. Sunday

Sold out race of 2,800 runners will cruise Silverado Trail and environs.

They say March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb; this year, it looks like the early spring might stay around awhile. It's okay: this weekend, and next, we've got several events in the Valley worth staying dry for.

For a lot of lean and hungry runners, this is the weekend to be in Napa. Sunday's 35th Annual Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon is sold out, but it's bound to be a spectacle nonetheless. Last year's Napa Valley Marathon champions Chris Mocko and Devon Yanko (née Crosby-Helms) will return to defend their titles.

Runners will cover the fast and scenic 26.2-mile course through the Napa Valley, from Calistoga to Napa along the Silverado Trail, starting at 7 a.m. sharp; the highway will reopen at 1 p.m. Winners of both men and women categories will take home the coveted first place prize: their weight in Napa Valley wine.

Advance tickets are $39 adult; $36 senior; $15 youth under 18. There's a $3 increase on day of show per ticket.

Next weekend it's Los Lonely Boys at the Uptown. Can't wait.
