Lucky Penny Names 2 "Future Star" Winners from Napa, Sonoma Counties

A total of 16 performers compete.

 

Lucky Penny Productions’ musical theater singing competition for youth titled “I’m the Greatest FUTURE Star!” presented 16 talented young singers at Silo’s in Napa on Saturday, March 23.

Two winners walked away with prizes worth than $100 each and a wealth of experience from performing in a pressure-filled professional environment.

 Fiona Harden of Napa, with her performance of “If I Loved You” from Carousel was the winner in the 11-14 year old age group.

“Fiona is just 11 years old but she takes a professional approach to singing,” said Peter Sykes of the Napa School of Music, where Harden has been a student for more than four years. “She realizes it takes hard work to be a performer, and she has a great future ahead of her.”

Madison Meals of Santa Rosa topped the 6-10 year-old group with her rendition of “Reflection” from Mulan.

Harden and Meals were each awarded a $50 cash prize and a $50 iTunes gift card, and both have been invited to perform for the Funny Girl pre-show in the Café Theatre prior to performances May 10-19. 

“It was a joy to watch these young singers on stage,” said Taylor Bartolucci, who will play Fanny Brice in Funny Girl. “We were all impressed by the level of talent we saw, and we hope to hold more events for young performers in the future.”

“I’m the Greatest Future Star” was presented as a tie-in to Lucky Penny’s production of Funny Girl at the Napa Valley Opera House. Tickets are now on sale at www.nvoh.org or by calling 707-226-7372.
